Description

Puentes de Salud (Bridges of Health) is a nonprofit organization/comprehensive health center that offers a variety of health, educational, and wellness services for the Latinx community in Philadelphia. One of the programs that Puentes de Salud offers is Promotoras de Salud, which is comprised of a group of individuals who come from within the community. They are also referred to as Community Health Workers (CHWs) that promote health care access and provide the Latinx community with a variety of resources. Promotoras provides health promotion, counseling, education and guidance for the Latinx community. A Quality Improvement Project was designed in order to provide the Promotoras with additional training and education regarding different topics on oral health.

Project Overview

The ultimate goal was to improve the knowledge and skills of the Promotoras regarding oral health and oral hygiene, and in that manner ultimately have a greater impact on the Latinx community.

Outcome

Outcomes for the project are still in progress as the third module has not been given at the moment. The post-test given at the end of the third module will also determine the results for the educational intervention.
