Project Overview

The objective of this clinical case report is to highlight this vulnerable population and demonstrate behavioral and dental management for domestic violence victims and survivors. It is important to implement trauma-informed care as these patients have experienced violations of their bodily integrity. Being in the dental chair can be re-triggering. Trauma-informed care involves having patient-centered communication and care, understanding the health effects of trauma, interprofessional collaboration, understanding one’s history and reactions, and screening.4

Outcome

The patient became more confident and expressive after a series of visits, with improvement in oral hygiene and competence in continuing treatment.
