Introduction

The goal is to demonstrate a case that shows full maxillary veneers and crowns as a preferred esthetic option in a patient requesting a full smile reconstruction In addition, to demonstrate the effects of recession on veneer preparations and the longevity of esthetics.

Methods

MInimal veneer preparations were done to allow added facial contour. A 1 mm facial shoulder prep was completed at level of gingival margin. The margin was extended apically to include recession present on central incisors. Conventional impression techniques utilized with polyvinyl siloxane materials.

Results

Full contour crowns in addition to minimal preparation veneers that extended to include recession proved effective in improving patient esthetics in the case study. As far as longevity of the esthetics, studies showed that veneers after 10-15 years often showed signs of recession causing poorer esthetics.

Conclusion

Indirect veneers and full contour crowns are effective in restoring a patients smile, but caution should be used in placement of margin in order to minimize recession of gingiva over time. In addition, patients should be educated in longevity of veneers and future need to replace them.
